Weddings and Friday Night Drinks

Posted on Tuesday 23 October 2007

A couple of weeks ago Kate and Nick got married - Kate is Con’s younger sister and it was a really nice wedding. I don’t go to many weddings, so I don’t have a lot to compare it with, but I’d have to say it was one of the more enjoyable weddings I’ve been to.

The wedding was at Melaney which is inland from Caloundra (up at the Sunshine Coast) and unfortunately we weren’t able to find any accommodation near-by, so we drove-up in the morning and came home later that afternoon.

This mean we missed-out on joining the close friends and family for drinks afterwards (which is more of an Irish tradition - where the wedding and reception are treated as more formal affairs which everyone is invited to, but the real drinking and partying takes place much later in a less formal setting).

So the following Friday night we had some drinks at our place to make up for it. Con was leaving the following night and I’m not sure when we’ll be seeing each other again, so we decided to make it a big night.

Normally at these types of things more of Kristy’s friends come than mine - but this time I had Con, Mick, Mick’s partner Caroline, Mel and her partner Joe (but only briefly because he had some work stuff to take care of).

I’m a little hazy on things after the shots of Dr Jurd’s Jungle Juice - but I do know it was a really fun night (even if I can’t remember all of it).
