A few days ago, Kristy wrote a post on her blog about What engineers do on their days off.

Basically the post had a link to a video of a Rube Goldberg Machine. What is a Rube Goldberg Machine? I’m glad you asked…

A Rube Goldberg Machine is an exceedingly complex apparatus that performs a very simple task in a very indirect and convoluted way.

If you have some time on your hands, check-out some of these great (but pointless) inventions… I especially like the soundtrack on the first one:
