The Magic Roundabout

Posted on Tuesday 25 September 2007

Last week I received an email from my friend Dave (well the emails are usually sent from his wife Anna… but they tell of their recent adventures in the UK).

One of their recent adventures involved Swindon’s Magic Roundabout (and no, I’m not talking about the French Children’s TV show from the 60’s)

Basically it’s one very large roundabout containing five smaller roundabouts… I know that doesn’t sound particularly clear, so here’s a diagram:

And here’s what it looks like in action:

The scary thing is that Dave doesn’t have the best record when it comes to driving (sorry Dave, but you know it’s true)… So I was amazed to hear that no one was injured whilst he attempted to navigate this.

Man, I went to Swindon for work the other week and never came across this fancy round about!! Probably the only interesting thing there too - cost me 65 pounds return to get there just for the day - and that was just for a 1 hour train ride. Ouch.

AHHH!!! Oh my word! I think I would have a heart attack if I came upon that — whether I was expecting it or not!
