Blog spam

Posted on Wednesday 23 May 2007

Over the past few months I’ve been inundated with blog spam – generally it consists of automated bots posting unrelated comments full of links… most of which my blog software WordPress managed to block, but there were still a truckload of comments I’d manually have to reject… until I discovered a plug-in called Bad Behavior.

This plug-in detects traffic from non-human visitors and then blocks them (whilst still managing to let legit bots through – like search bots). So far I’ve only had the plug-in active since the weekend but already it’s blocked 410 dodgy spam comments.

I’m very impressed… now I just need to figure-out a way of blocking the blog spam I’ve received on my MySpace Blog (and for once I’m not referring to Vicky’s comments)
