Disadvantaged Schools

Posted on Friday 1 September 2006

I recently heard that my high school – St Peter Claver College was having a reunion (not just for my year level, but for all students who attended over the last 30 years). I thought I’d check-out the school’s website and see if I could find-out some info.

When I Googled it, I didn’t find the school’s website, but instead I discovered the following page which says that my highschool is/was considered to be a “Disadvantaged School” as far as tertiary entrance is considered:

Griffith’s Disadvantaged School List

I knew that the other students in your year-level had the potential to lower your OP score if everyone performed poorly, but I didn’t realise there was actually a list of schools that you should avoid if you want to do well!

I can’t really say that I’m surprised as I’m sure that there’s a few people from Peter Claver currently in jail – at least a few of us turned-out ok :)
