Sizzling Mongolian BBQ

Posted on Saturday 24 June 2006

Lastnight Glen, Odette, Kristy and I went to the Sizzling Mongolian BBQ House at Taringa.

Some of the guys from Odette’s work said it was a really good restaurant to go to, so she invited us along and it was a really good night.

The method of cooking is similar to teppanyaki - you line-up and fill a bowl with various finely sliced raw ingredients (such as beef, lamb, chicken, pork, cabbage, onion, capsicum, tomato, carrot, shallots etc. etc.) you then add your preference of sauces (soy, cooking wine, coriander water, sugar water, lemon water, ginger, garlic and chili) and hand the bowl to a Mongolian BBQ chef who cooks your selection on a huge circular BBQ hotplate and finishes-off with a flick-of-the-wrist and voila - dinner is served!

I tried a few combinations of sauces and they all tasted great - apparently the more sauces you combine, the better it tastes. But for me, the best part about it was that it’s all-you-can-eat, so you can keep filling your bowl and let the BBQ Ninja work his Mongolian magic.

Looking for an excellent feed in Brissy - check-out the Sizzling Mongolian BBQ House at Taringa!
